The latest AI insights for Business Leaders and Organisational Orchestrators
Staccato provocation…
Does your business have a lot of friction caused by large COGS driven by resources creating repeatable content that could be automated by applying Generative AI?
Hello Orchestrators!
How are those GenAI exploitation initiatives going? Across the many international organisations I have been talking to over the waking hours of 2024, the most common message is that deployment is being driven top-down, bottom-up, and from every other direction imaginable.
Naturally, organisation size and type (commercial, public sector, research, learning) comes into it, but the common factor is the ease with which new things (tasks, workflows, creations, business models) can be explored faster, cheaper, and in many cases at a higher quality.
This is not going unnoticed up in the rarified atmosphere of Management Teams and Board rooms, as they simultaneously seek to exploit future possibilities, mitigate risks, and optimise their budgets and resource plans. An interesting side effect of applying GenAI at scale is the ability to 5x productivity (pick your own target) as well as reducing costs.
But the equation is not so simple, and trigger-happy leadership teams should consider the possibilities of redirecting all that released capacity from employees and teams utilising GenAI across traditional tasks. What if a new division focused on a new product, service or region could now be spun-up with existing resources who know your business systems and culture, instead of taking a gamble on an M&A? Why exit resources who could be valuable in spaces you haven’t yet imagined. Consider using ChatGPT to ideate.
One things for sure, there are many emerging disruptive decisions facing Leadership teams and Boards. And it’s going to accelerate. For now, lets take a trawl through this weeks key headlines worthy of a few seconds of your precious time, dear Orchestrators!

This weeks pick of the news:
A bit of déjà vu this week. Exciting news out about Google DeepMind’s new AlphaGeometry AI that can solve maths problems. So what’s the déjà vu? The rumblings of a new exponential performance curve bubbling up below the surface of industries, research and science. Evolving mathematical capabilities combined with the LLMs we have all started adopt will supercharge the pace of R&D and commercialisation. ‘24 will be a rollercoaster of discovery and disruption. Here’s MIT’s take on what’s going on.
A survey out claims that tech CFOs (all CFOs will soon be “tech”) will be prioritising AI investments this year. Don’t forget to also prioritise your teams who get augmented by it, and help take those AI tools off towards interesting, profitable horizons!
Another survey out from PWC says that nearly half of all CEOs see profits being boosted by GenAI in ‘24. The scary thing is that the other half don’t. Does this mean there is a gap between the reality of what’s hitting their teams and markets, and the Executive suite? Much to chew on.
I’ve been feasting on PWC this week, and here’s another set of useful insights. Scroll down in this report on ‘24 trends to #2 where they dive into the evolving role of the Leader as they seek to navigate through the opportunities and risks of GenAI…known and unknown.
Breaking language barriers. While it might seem like just another smartphone enhancement, the new real-time language translation capabilities on the Samsung S24 phone will be a productivity accelerator for multi-national and multi-cultural organisations. Those performance improvements in time and quality collaboration will accrue to the bottom line.
According to this article in HRDIVE, by 2032 GenAI will significantly change half of all jobs. How about 2025? Beware experts underestimating exponential curves.
